Leigh have announced the capture of experienced goalkeeper Steve Dickinson. Steve is a Yorkshire born goalkeeper who has been involved in non-league football for a number of years. His first
club was Bradford City
as a reserve team player but after his release from the football league side, he joined his hometown club Guiseley. He made
his name in the Unibond League with them and having established himself as a number one, his sparkling displays caught the
eye of many clubs. In August 1999 he signed for Southport who at the time were flying high
in the Conference. He spent 7 years with the Sandgrounders making 283 appearances and won the player of the year award twice
in his time, helping them regain promotion in 2005. A season later he returned home to Guiseley and spent 18 months back at
Neathermoor Park and in March 2008 signed
for Blue Square North side Hucknall Town. He helped the Nottingham
club to victory over Leigh by saving 2 penalties in only his 5th appearance for them. He joins us as we enter our
first season back in the Unibond League and are happy to have such an experienced player in our ranks. . Steve is a Yorkshire born goalkeeper who has been involved in non-league football for

Derry goalkeeper on move to Sons
Dumbarton have signed David McEwan after the former Scotland Under-21 goalkeeper left Derry City. The
26-year-old, who started his career with Livingston before joining Hamilton Accies, joined the Irish outfit last year from
Alloa Athletic. Sons manager Jim Chapman said: "David is a great keeper with potential to be the best in the division. He's
got experience and will be a great asset." But Chapman missed out on former Sons forward Ryan Borris, who joined Ayr. He preferred
to remain in Division Two after leaving Raith Rovers instead of dropping down a division.

Gills complete goalkeeper deal
Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has completed his first summer
signing with the capture of Stevenage goalkeeper Alan Julian.Julian, 25, has penned a two-year deal at
Priestfield and becomes the fifth player to follow Stimson to Priestfield from Boro, with Adam Miller, John Nutter, Barry
Fuller and Stuart Lewis all joining last season after Stimson took over in November. The former Northern Ireland Under-21 international
will provide competition to player of the year Simon Royce after the retirement of Derek Stillie earlier this month.Millwall
and Southampton were also thought to be interested in the former Brentford shot-stopper, but he has chosen to link up with
his former manager. Stimson told KentOnline: "He's been down here, seen the ground and liked what he's seen. He has been impressed
and he wants to come in and compete."
Everton sounded out Birmingham keeper Taylor tribalfootball.com
- May 22, 2008
Everton have asked Maik Taylor's advisers about the availability of the Northern Ireland goalkeeper,
reports the Liverpool Echo.Having released Stefan Wessels at the end of the season, Blues boss David Moyes is chasing a reliable,
experienced goalkeeper to provide cover for Tim Howard.Taylor, who has made 524 appearances during his career, fits the bill
but Birmingham City have offered him a new two-year contract to head off Everton's interest.Though he has yet to put pen to
paper and is weighing up his options, Taylor, who is now 36, is understood to want regular first team football. And given Howard's
outstanding form since he arrived at Goodison Park, the best any new goalkeeper could hope for is sporadic appearances in
cup competitions.
Carlisle boss John Ward has offered goalkeeper Keiren Westwood the chance to pledge
his long-term future to the Brunton Park club.Westwood, who still has a year left on his existing deal, has been in outstanding
form this season and is currently away at a training camp with the Republic of Ireland.Ward is now hopeful of persuading the
23-year-old to remain with the Blues as speculation regarding his future intensifies."I think the club will show to Keiren
that we want him to stay," Ward told the Carlisle News & Star. "All positions are important but when you look at top clubs
they all place an emphasis on the best goalkeeper they can get."We have one of the best in the league we play in and he can
become a top-class keeper. If he is going to be a number two to another keeper, he has to figure out if he would benefit more
from another 12 months at Carlisle."If other clubs are interested, we will deal with it if and when it happens, but I want
to keep him longer. We've offered him an improved and extended contract and it would be a boost to everyone if he stayed."
